The first part covers features of barnacle biology, system by system. The second part is an account of the biology of the most important British sessile barnacles. The zonation of British barnacles is discussed, identifying the physical and biological factors limiting barnacle distributions and summarising the ecological relationships of the barnacles. Finally the biology of the specialish parasitic barnacles, the Rhizocephalans Sacculina and Peltogaster, is briefly outlined.
