Many of the early Virginia Thrifts settled in Richmond and Fairfax Counties. Forefather of the Georgia Thrifts, Robert T. Thrift (ca. 1772-1837), was born in Fairfax Co., Va. He was the son of George and Elizabeth Hurst Thrift. He married ca. 1805 and had six known children. He died in Houston Co., Ga. After his death his children moved to Tattnall County.
